Sony's True CraftsmanshipUnique graphics technology: Hybrid Graphic SystemCarbon cabinet & ultra-slim display
Life with VAIO
Style and power when I'm on the move
I find the 13.3" wide dimensions to be just right — allowing the VAIO SZ18GP/C to combine portability with great visibility. Just this morning, for example, my business partner called my mobile to ask me to take a look at a mail. I was in a car, but it wasn't a problem. I just opened my VAIO SZ18GP/C and checked my mail there and then — putting my mail application on the left of the screen and the attachment on the right so I could see and discuss everything at once, while also using Sony's Hybrid Graphic System to change my VAIO SZ18GP/C to STAMINA MODE for battery power saving. Good job I did too, as I had quite a lot of adjustments to make using the comfortable full-pitched, full-sized keyboard. Then I arrived at the client's office, switched back to SPEED MODE that uses the powerful external graphics chip to produce higher quality images and delivered my updated proposal using the Plug & Display function that lets me start presentations smoothly. I'm always amazed how the VAIO SZ18GP/C packs such a range of features as well as the latest platform into the 13.3" wide size. And I love the way it's so light and slim, due to the carbon cabinet and ultra-slim display (white LED). Amazingly, this slim display even incorporates a MOTION EYE camera. And with the beautiful Carbon Black colour of my VAIO SZ18GP/C complementing the dark silver of the aluminium hairline palm rest, it projects a sense of premium quality that gives me a stylish edge in business.
Superb security with great flexibility!
As a manager in systems, I like to adopt the latest technologies early on. That's why I chose the VAIO SZ18GP/C. Featuring the latest Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology, it gives me the performance I need on the move, while wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g compatibility gives me greater freedom. Because I'm privy to a lot of confidential info, I especially appreciate the VAIO SZ18GP/C's range of security features. The Hard Disk Password and TPM Security Chip give me protection for sensitive data and the fingerprint sensor makes for speedy, safe logging on. There's even VAIO HDD Protection, which helps protect the data if my VAIO SZ18GP/C happens to take a knock! What's more, the VAIO SZ18GP/C gives me plenty of flexibility too. With Sony's Hybrid Graphic System and the VAIO Power Management Viewer, I can use the external graphics chip with the maximised performance mode for smoother video playback or select the internal one in combination with the power-saving mode for longer battery power on business trips. And with a built-in Memory Stick Duo slot, an ExpressCard™/34 slot and a supplied ExpressCard™/34 type Memory Card Adapter, it's easy for me to import images and other data from various media — like I'm doing today to update the "President's Blog". Taking care of all my needs, even when I'm travelling, the VAIO SZ18GP/C gives me freedom to achieve.
A better way to talk to the board
I've got an international videoconference this morning with the board at headquarters. But with my VAIO SZ18GP/C to rely on, I know everything is going to go smooth. It has a built-in MOTION EYE camera and microphone, so we can begin having face-to-face communication as soon as I've switched on my PC — that way I can point to different documents to show them how well our fund is doing. As soon as it's time for the call, I'll make use of the convenient Docking Station to disconnect everything in one go and move to a quiet room. And once the meeting is over, I'm going to begin transferring a bunch of work-related photos from my Memory Stick Duo to my VAIO SZ18GP/C. There's also a whole range of other information I need to gather from the analysts too. That's easy enough, though, because my VAIO SZ18GP/C is compatible with so many different kinds of media. Then, once I've got everything together, I'm going to put all the imported data on DVD. It looks like I've got a few spare minutes before the call is due to start. I think I'll press the S button to launch VAIO Zone and relax for a few minutes while looking at my recent holiday photos.
Stylish support for business and beyond
My high-spec VAIO SZ18GP/C gives me all the support I need — both for business and entertainment too. Watching DVD movies, for example, is really a refined experience. In fact with the impressive 13.3" wide Clear Bright LCD, Dolby Virtual Speaker* technology and the Dolby Headphone* function as well as the powerful NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7400 enhanced by NVIDIA® PureVideo™ technology that delivers smooth, superior graphics, I often feel like I'm carrying my own personal theatre! Something that really adds to the entertainment for me is the way the SonicStage Mastering Studio Audio Filter lets me choose exactly the right audio setting for use with my favourite Sony headphones. Not to mention the S button that lets me launch applications at a touch. I often use that to access the powerful VAIO Zone that takes me straight from one form of entertainment to another as I like; switching smoothly from my favourite artist's songs on the hard disk to a video of my cousin's wedding on DVD, for example. Isn't it amazing to be able to expect so much from such a stylish, compact notebook PC!
Dolby Virtual Speaker and Dolby Headphone functions are only available when WinDVD 5 for VAIO or VAIO Zone is used.
My own sophisticated mobile studio!
When I get spare time at weekends, I love to throw myself into my audiovisual hobbies — editing movies and music and creating my own DVDs. My VAIO SZ18GP/C makes it so easy; it's like having my own mobile creative studio. Once I've filmed some pleasing footage on my Handycam, I just import it to my VAIO SZ18GP/C via i.LINK for easy editing in DVgate Plus. Or sometimes I use Adobe® Premiere® Standard when I want to edit with a little more intricacy. Being quite a music fan I still have a lot of vinyl, so I'm finding it really useful to be able to take analogue audio sources and turn them into digital with SonicStage Mastering Studio. With Sony's Sound Reality chip, the resulting digital audio quality is surprisingly high, while SonicStage lets me manage my music with ease. Once I've got all my video and music data right there in my VAIO SZ18GP/C, I'm free to combine sound and visuals as I please and produce a DVD right away with Sony's Click to DVD software. Then I'm ready to show off my handiwork to my friends — they're always amazed at what I can do with my stylish VAIO SZ18GP/C!
