| Recently, I've been torn between wanting a larger-size notebook
PC for office or home and a smaller-size notebook PC for mobile use, functionality
and design. But as soon as I found out about VAIO S18GP, I knew this is the one
I've been waiting for! It has a 13.3" wide WXGA LCD
unlike any other notebook PC. So it's not too big, not too small, but just right
to slip into my bag and take along anywhere. I really like the wide screen that
gives me ample space to open several application windows and display DVD movie
frames, as well as the full-size keyboard
that feels right for my fingers and lets me work the way I like. Above all, DVD
writing capability was the decisive factor for buying VAIO S18GP, with high performance
features, plus a distinctive design that's
great on the go! And look how it matches my place! |

Day
1: The surprise DVD job
This morning, my boss suddenly asked me if I could edit video and make DVDs. I
answered ''yes'' without knowing what would happen. The next moment, I was assigned
to go to headquarters and make a DVD presentation of our exhibit to the president
of a client. So I've got to finish the DVD by tomorrow morning! Well, I was out
all day today. Luckily, I managed to edit the video
with Adobe® Premiere® Standard on my VAIO S18GP. When I got home,
I just launched Click to DVD and clicked once. Then I went to bed knowing that
the DVD would be finished by next morning. |

| Day 2: The big presentation |
 |
| 8:45 |
Woke up a little late today. Removed my VAIO S18GP from
the optional port replicator to detach the
peripherals at once, put it into my carrying case, grabbed the finished DVD, and
quickly headed for the office. To show the DVD to my boss for final checking,
I changed the screen brightness adjustment to maximum in one push a really
helpful feature in this rush situation. Then I dashed off to the airport. |
| 9:48 |
Checked in my luggage, and slipped the lightweight
VAIO S18GP into my carry-on baggage. It's amazing how it fits into my business
bag! |
| 10:12 |
While waiting to board, I sent an email to headquarters
with an attached overview of the presentation. Smooth connection with wireless
LAN b/g capability. |
| 11:08 |
Took a taxi to headquarters. I'm all prepared and so is
my VAIO S18GP because its power setting mode is preset in advance with VAIO
Power Management Viewer to ensure battery stamina for presentation usage. |
| 11:30 |
Meeting started. Connected my VAIO S18GP to the screen,
and the plug & display function automatically
showed the material at the maximum screen resolution. Thanks to this useful function, my presentation went smoothly. |
| 12:53 |
The meeting took longer than I expected. But the
power lasted without failing thanks to Intel®
Centrino Mobile Technology and VAIO Power Management Viewer. Finally, I handed out the DVD material and everyone
was happy. Mission accomplished! |

It's easy and enjoyable to make original videos and albums
with VAIO S18GP! You can connect a Sony Digital Handycam* via i.LINK
cable and use DVgate Plus to import video clips.
Then, add titles and effects with Adobe® Premiere®
Standard enhanced by new VAIO Edit Components. (For example, when a player
scores a goal in a soccer match, you can add flame effects to the shot that fly
along with the ball straight to the goal!) Or, use PictureGear
Studio to import digital photos from Sony Cyber-shot* via Memory Stick and
edit your pictures. Finally, burn the finished video on a DVD in one click by
using Click to DVD, or create slideshow DVDs
from a Cyber-shot* in one click. Moreover, VAIO S18GP can also be your own programmable
jukebox. You can collect favourite music and organise it in your own categories,
create "big hits" CDs by using the built-in DVD-RW drive, or download music from
the Internet and "check out" tracks for "music
to go" on a Net MD Walkman*. Moreover, you can use SonicStage
Mastering Studio software and Roland's EDIROL AUDIO capture UA-5* USB audio
interface device to create a digital music library on your PC from old analogue
record collections. Whatever you choose, VAIO S18GP provides lots of entertaining
choices!
